Laura Kaye's Hauntingly Beautiful Hard to Hold on To!

There are just a spattering a books that rank so high to me to earn that coveted shelf keeper spot, that perfect review in which I cannot find any fault in the story and in some way shape or form touches not my mind but my very heart. Let me also point out that as a fast reader I am not a big fan of the novella format……I typically prefer 350 plus pages that can keep me engaged for hours at a time. That said, Laura Kaye’s novella Hard to Hold on To is just one of those types of books which will constantly grace my shelves. It is hauntingly heart breaking and wonderfully emotional that it is easily a book I will never forget.
I knew going into this series that tells the stories of five ex-soldiers who are running an operation against an organized crime ring out of a tattoo shop that sooner or later these books would turn dark. That the tale would explore the darkest corners of the human mind and perhaps body. Easy and Jenna’s book does just that……it triggers some of the darkest and saddest emotions that one could ever find in a romance.  Yet it leaves you breathless on the flip side of the coin. It deals with the harsh realities of what happens after losing your team members in an ambush and resulting post traumatic stress disorder that follows. It deals with what happens when a you woman with a bring future ahead of her is brutally attacked, and it deals with what happens when these two lost souls find a way into each other’s hearts.
I am an avid fan of author Laura Kaye’s writing from her Hearts of Anemoi series to her current Hard Ink books, each for their own reasons. Hard to Come By managed to leave me in both happy and sad tears, I cannot even begin to imagine where Ms. Kaye is going to take this series next. This novella picks up right where Hard as You Can leave’s off, and I would suggest reading that first as the two books closely intertwine.
5 out of 5 stars ……….and truth be told I wish I could give it more.

JUST GOTTA SAY by Laura Kaye! Release Day Launch and Giveaway!!

We are so excited to bring you the Release Day Launch for Laura Kaye's JUST GOTTA SAY! JUST GOTTA SAY is a 17K-word erotic ménage short story. JUST GOTTA SAY will be $.99 and available in print!!

Amazon ** Barnes & Noble

Just Gotta Say is a super sexy friends-to-lovers story and a contemporary ménage a quatres. Here’s the blurb: Callie Davis stumbles upon two of her three male roommates in a surprising, molten-hot midnight tryst and discovers a side of herself she never knew existed. Desire to play with them grips her, and she can’t stop fantasizing about having multiple men, particularly her three long-time best friends. Callie is thrilled when a guys’ night out gives her the perfect opportunity to recreate her fantasy, with the help of a threesome porn video and a bag of sex toys. That is, until Lucas, Jack and Noah return early and catch her in the act. More than anything, the guys want to make her fantasy come true. But Callie has a secret, and she can’t help wondering if being with all three men will risk the future she’s always wanted with one of them. As three strong sets of hands caress and undress her, Callie surrenders to desire, because sometimes you just gotta say...yes.
Just Gotta Say Excerpt: The set-up: Callie’s most secret fantasy was just unexpectedly revealed to her three male roommates… The invitation he laid out for her—the invitation to be with them, to act out this fantasy for real with them—was completely outside anything she imagined possible. She sat for a long moment, still mostly curled into herself. Her gaze lit on the rough bobbing of Jack’s Adams apple as he swallowed. His apparent case of nerves eased hers. A little. Soft, sandy-colored strands brushed against her forehead. Her nose filled with the scent of him, all night air and masculinity. Callie took a deep breath, her body remembering her unfulfilled arousal even as her brain struggled to keep up. “What are you saying, Jack?” she whispered, buying herself time to think and needing him to spell it out. One hand stroked her back while the other combed her hair off the side of her face. “I’m saying”—he nibbled at her ear, but this time his lips lingered, his warm exhalation caressing her skin—“that the three of us want to bring that fantasy to life for you. If you want.” Every nerve ending tingled with the promise of what he offered. Her heart rose from where it had plummeted into her gut and now hammered against her chest. Images of the three of them kissing her, fucking her, swamped her brain. Blood roared through her ears. “Are you teasing me?” “Look at me,” he said, sliding his large hand under her cheek. The commanding press of his skin on hers skittered electrical charges down her neck to her breasts. Her nipples hardened. She acquiesced and sat up just enough to face one of her three dearest friends. “We want to do this for you.” He quirked the sexiest of crooked smiles and shrugged with one shoulder. “You know we’d be good together.” She didn’t know whether his “we” meant her and him or the four of them. An encouraging voice in her mind said both interpretations were true. He cupped her neck, his grasp comforting and reassuring, and brushed his lips against her right cheekbone. Her right eye. Her forehead. Tilting his head to the other side, he repeated the action against her left eye, the apple of her left cheek. She gasped when his last kiss fell on that tender, hollow spot just below her ear. “What do you want, Callie? Whatever you want, we want. Always.” Get Your Copy Today! Amazon | B&N | Kobo

Hope for the Holidays!

I have to admit that I’m not a huge fan of the overwhelming number of Christmas titles that come out in the fall, but there was something about this book that intrigued me from the start, and if there was a book to put me into the Christmas spirit Mistletoe on Main Street might have just done that. Mistletoe on Main Street is Olivia Miles first full length contemporary romance debut. It is the first in the Briar Creek series and one small town romance that I look forward to returning to.
Grace Madison left home five years ago to follow her dreams of a writing career, and by following those dreams she broke her childhood sweetheart Luke Hastings’ heart. When her father’s passing leaves his bookstore empty; Grace must return home to face her past and those she hurt. Luke is faced with questions about how the big city has changed Grace and how long will she stick around this time. After Grace had left for the big city of New York, Luke moves on to find love with another, but when tragedy struck early into his marriage Luke is left feeling a world of guilt over his lingering feelings for his first true love. Add in a bevy of wonderful secondary characters each with their own tales to tell and this is one fantastic holiday read!
Mistletoe on Main Street is full of heart breaking romance and forgiveness. It’s ugly and it’s real, Olivia Miles really put the heart into this romance. It is one of those titles that will have you laughing through your tears. It is sweetness and heartache at its best. It is a tale of hope….and of how magical the Christmas season can be. I would recommend this book to any one that loves a good redemption tale.

Jill Shalvis He's So Fine Release Day Giveaway!

Book: He’s So Fine Author: Jill Shalvis Publisher: Grand Central Publishing Release Date: September 30, 2014 Genre: Contemporary Romance Goodreads Giveaway Embed Link a Rafflecopter giveaway Direct Link http://www.rafflecopter.com/rafl/display/07c2363f35 Summary For Olivia Bentley, Lucky Harbor is more than the town where she runs her new vintage shop. It's the place where folks are friendly to strangers-and nobody knows her real name. Olivia does a good job of keeping her past buried, not getting too cozy with anyone . . . until she sees a man drowning. Suddenly she's rushing into the surf, getting up close and personal with the hottest guy she's ever laid hands on. Charter boat captain Cole Donovan has no problem with a gorgeous woman throwing her arms around his neck in an effort to "save" him. In fact, he'd like to spend a lot more time skin-to-skin with Olivia. He's just not expecting that real trouble is about to come her way. Will it bring her deeper into Cole's heart, or will it be the end of Olivia's days in little Lucky Harbor? Excerpt “Dry off,” Cole said, and stepped back from Olivia. She nodded but didn’t move. “Olivia?” he asked. Her face was a mask of misery. “Mmmy arms won’t wwwork.” Shit. He quickly and gently pushed her back down to the bench, sat at her side, and began to pile blankets over the top of them both. “Wwhat are you ddoing?” “Sharing my body heat,” he said. “I cccan’t feel any hhheat.” “You will.” Beneath the blankets, he reached for the towel she still had wrapped around her. “Don’t freak,” he warned. “I’m just going to remove the wet towel and pull you into me.” She opened her mouth, but using her sluggishness to his benefit, Cole quicklystripped the towel away from her, wrapping his arms around her, pulling her into him as two things happened simultaneously. One, she squeaked. Probably trying to formulate her next threat. And two—holy shit—he realized she was completely, totally, one hundred percent naked beneath the layer of blankets. And pissed. “Yyyour pants!” she gasped. “Thththey’re cccold!” “Sorry, but I’m trying to do the right thing here,” he said through clenched teeth. Jesus. He couldn’t see a thing below her neck, but he could sure as hell feel her. His hands were on her hip and low on her back, respectively, not touching anything he shouldn’t be, but damn she was soft, and at the feel of her, his brain clicked off. Just completely flatlined. Shana Galen Presents An Introduction to the Barbican Group and a Giveaway!!!

An Introduction to the Barbican Group

My recent release, Love and Let Spy, is the final (almost) novel in my Lord and Lady Spy series. I say almost because I have a Christmas novella featuring two secondary characters from Love and Let Spy still to come.

But for now, Love and Let Spy is the last novel. When I began the series almost 5 years ago, I didn’t think any farther ahead than the first novel Lord and Lady Spy. In that book, I introduced an elite espionage group called the Barbican. I chose that term because a barbican is a fortified outpost or gateway, often an outer defense on a castle. I thought that seemed an appropriate title for an organization taxed with protecting the Crown.

In Lord and Lady Spy and the subsequent books, I had fun introducing several members of the Barbican group.

Here’s a short primer for any of you who are new to the series.

Sophia Galloway
introduced in Lord and Lady Spy
code name Saint
impulsive, intuitive, never fails, awful with pistols

Adrian Galloway
introduced in Lord and Lady Spy
code name Wolf
practical, strategist, planner

Winslow (Winn) Keating

organized, efficient, sensible

Jane Bonde

As you can see, my little spy world kept getting bigger and bigger. Do you have a favorite continuing series? One reader who comments will be randomly chosen to win a copy of Love and Let Spy (U.S. and Canada only).

Spotlight & Giveaway: IN BED WITH A ROGUE by Samantha Grace

Spotlight & Giveaway: IN BED WITH A  ROGUE by Samantha Grace

Hi, everyone! I’m Samantha Grace, author of the historical romance series Rival Rogues. I’m very excited to be at Misty’s Book Bin and eager to chat with everyone. I’ve known Misty for a couple of years, ever since she contacted me before my debut book hit shelves in 2012. Her message was so encouraging, and she hasn’t stopped being a source of support and encouragement. I’m a lucky author!

Today I want to share an exclusive excerpt from my latest book IN BED WITH A ROGUE. I hope you enjoy it!

He's the Talk of the Town

The whole town is tittering about Baron Sebastian Thorne having been jilted at the altar. Every move he makes ends up in the gossip columns. Tired of being the butt of everyone's jokes, Sebastian vows to restore his family's reputation no matter what it takes.

She's the Toast of the Ton

Feted by the crème of society, the beautiful widow Lady Prestwick is a vision of all that is proper. But Helena is no angel, and when Sebastian uncovers her dark secret, he's quick to press his advantage. In order to keep her hard-won good name, Helen will have to make a deal with the devil. But she's got some tricks up her sleeves to keep this notorious rogue on his toes...

Excerpt

Sebastian glanced sideways at Helena. Her gaze remained straight ahead and her posture was as stiff as a soldier marching in a parade. Sebastian had never been one to dance around a topic. In fact, he’d been told on occasion he had no tact, but he’d always found asking straight questions usually reaped straight answers.
He cleared his throat. “What impediment keeps you from becoming involved with me? I know you are as attracted to me as I am to you.”
“Sebastian.” Surprise and censorship was clear in that one word.
“Be honest. I deserve the truth.” He held his breath, dreading her answer. If she mentioned anything about his family history of mental frailty, he wasn’t certain he could stand to hear it. Not from her.
Her steps slowed until the gap between them and his sister grew even greater. Eventually, Helena stopped. He turned to face her, preparing for the harsh truth and unsure how he would respond.
“Sebastian.” She forcefully exhaled and a pink flush climbed her face. “It’s me. I am the impediment.”
He blinked, not following her.
“I’m afraid.”
“Of me?”
She shook her head. “It’s not like that, at least I’m not afraid of you in the sense you mean. I am afraid of what I might lose if I become involved with you. I never had a moment of freedom until recently and I can’t risk my independence. I just can’t.”
A surge of affection flowed through him. She had nothing to fear from him, and now that he understood her reluctance, his patience returned. “I don’t want to control you, love.”
She gave a rueful laugh. “You would be the only man who hasn’t. First it was my father and then my husband. This is the only time in my life I haven’t had a man making decisions for me, and I’ve found I like that very much.”
“I understand the appeal.”
He wasn’t being sarcastic. Having grown up mostly with his mother and sister for companionship, Sebastian didn’t hold some of the same ideas about ladies and their places in Society as his fellow gents. He believed in protecting and providing for Mother and Eve, but he would never force them into doing something they didn’t agree to. He wanted to ask Helena about her father and husband, so he could reassure her that he was nothing like them, but the middle of the walkway was not a place for such a discussion.
For now, he would just have to prove himself, and he would start by accepting her refusal.
“I promise not to put you on the spot again, Lady Prestwick, but know I will be waiting.” As long as it takes.
Despite his father’s long periods of isolation, he had managed to impart some of his values to Sebastian. Hard work and determination reaps rewards. Determination was in Sebastian’s lifeblood. He had never been one to surrender without a fight or back down from a challenge, but that didn’t mean his only weapon was brawn. He had the advantage of charm and wit, and that was what he needed to win over the ever-more-desirable Helena.
“Shall we?” He offered his arm and a disarming smile.
Her eyes narrowed on him as she accepted his escort. “Thank you, I think.”
“Now, now, Lady Prestwick. No more flattery or I will become too arrogant by half.”
Her smile returned. “Too late, my lord.”

I think we can all relate to having fears—some realistic and others not. I won’t ask anyone to open up about what makes them feel vulnerable, but does anyone have any unusual fears they are will to share? I’ll go first.

I always feel a sense of dread and start running through an escape plan in my mind every time I drive over one of the Mississippi River bridges. And I hate to be in a room alone with some dolls. My sister-in-law has one from her childhood that would freak me out if I walked into a room and saw him sitting in a chair. He has an evil smile!!! LOL

Andrea Laurence Facing the Music Excerpt and Giveaway!!!

Excerpt Ivy pressed her hands against Blake's shoulders, pushing him gently until he was lying back on the blanket. “What are you doing?” he asked. “Whatever I want to.” Blake arched his eyebrow at her, but he didn’t complain. He held perfectly still as her nimble fingers moved down the front of his shirt, undoing each button and exposing the expanse of skin beneath it. Her palms ran over his skin, relishing the feel of his chest hair tickling her hands. She leaned forward, letting her tongue glide along his collarbone, and then she crept down his body to the button of his jeans. “Your hair tickles,” he said. Ivy gathered up the long, wavy strands of her hair into one hand and swept them over her shoulder. “Do you want me to stop?” “Not on your life,” he said between tightly gritted teeth as her fingertips brushed the edge of his waistband. “That’s what I thought,” she said with a smile. “Now, stop complaining.” Ivy settled between his legs, resting on her knees as she unbuttoned his jeans. She tugged at his back pockets, pulling his jeans down the length of his legs and throwing them out of her way. She moved back over him doing the same with his underwear, which thankfully, this time, were a pair of charcoal-gray boxers. They slid easily out of her way, leaving nothing between her and her goal. She leisurely traveled back up his legs. Her fingertips gently brushed along the puckered pink scars of his calf and across his kneecap. By the time she reached his upper thigh, he was nearly trembling. Ivy wasn’t sure if it was with anticipation, emotion, or pain. His hand reached out and snatched her wrist as she moved higher. “This hardly seems fair,” he said. “You’re wearing entirely too much clothing for me to be wearing so little.” “Who’s doing this? You or me?” Blake acquiesced and released her hand. He crossed his arms behind his head, giving himself an excellent vantage point for overseeing her activities. “You are, ma’am.” “That’s right. Now are you going to keep critiquing everything I do, or do I need to put something in your mouth to shut you up?” A wicked grin crossed Blake’s face as he looked at her. “May I offer a suggestion?” “I have several ideas of my own,” she said. a Rafflecopter giveaway Direct Link http://www.rafflecopter.com/rafl/display/07c2363f29

Enjoyable Start To a Brand New Series!

Necessary Force is a prequel novella to D.D. Ayres K-9 Rescue series. In this novella photographer, Georgiana Flynn never dates her clients, but those rules go out the window when she meets hunky K-9 agent Brad Lawson.  This short tale begins with betrayal, but quickly comes together with exciting passion and fantastic suspense.

This was a fun read with great characters, a great dog and fantastic story telling. The only complaint I would have is that as a novella it was too short! I would have loved to see their story unfold in a full length novel. Overall it is a good read that will leave readers wanting to return to the K-9 Rescue series.

Shana Galen Explains "Why Pirates Make the Worst Best Book Boyfriends"

Why Pirates Make the Worst Best Book Boyfriends

By Shana Galen

If you’re out there looking for a book boyfriend, there are lots to choose from. You have your paranormal boys—werewolves, shapeshifters, vampires, angels and demons, and everything in-between. You have your contemporary heroes—sports stars, cops, Navy SEALS, DIY handymen, and bad boy bikers. And of course you have the peerage from the historical set—dukes, viscounts, bastard royal offspring, and the occasional spy or muscled, sweaty horse breeder. But I guarantee you that whatever book boyfriend you choose to curl up with tonight, if you want to catch some Zs, the worst choice you could make is a pirate.

1) Clothing
If you’re snuggling with a duke, chances are he’s wearing a tail coat and tight breeches. Those ex-military types usually wear combat trousers and go commando, and vampires wear…capes?  But a pirate? Imagine him in scuffed, black leather boots all the way to his knees. Those boots thump with authority as he walks the decks and hug his shapely calves until the leather ends, revealing muscled thighs encased in tight buckskin. A billowing white shirt, open at the chest, is plastered by the wind to his sculpted chest, the whiteness unbroken only by the handle of the cutlass tucked in one side of his belt and the silver inlaid handle of the pistol on the other. His hair is longer than acceptable and carelessly held back by a leather cord. His skin is burnished by sun and wind, and his eyes are the color of a stormy sea. Choose a pirate as a book boyfriend, and you won’t be getting any sleep.

2) Setting
And let’s consider where pirates reside. Cramped ships’ quarters where a girl would constantly be forced to brush against that pirate’s hard body. He might even confine his woman to his opulent captain’s cabin, which is, of course, appointed with silk sheets, a full library, and an abundance of hot water for long, luxurious baths. If that isn’t bad enough, pirate ships make frequent stops at tropical islands with white sandy beaches, coconuts and rum, and clear pools with waterfalls where pirates might attempt to take advantage of the lack of chaperone. How will you sleep with the sound of waves crashing on the beach, the sweet tropical breeze caressing your skin, and the twinkling stars overhead?

3) Shipboard Life
Let’s chat more about those stars. Chances are if you look out your window at night, you’ll see half a dozen stars. Some of those might be satellites, but who can tell, right? The city lights block out most of the stars, but that isn’t the case in the middle of the ocean on a pirate ship. If you’re looking to get a good eight hours of sleep, don’t choose a pirate. He’s likely to drag the heroine onto the deck (or the crow’s nest) and make love under that canopy of twinkling stars all night long.  Beautiful? Romantic? Yes. Good for sleep? No.

4) Attitude
Dukes have a duty to the title. Navy SEALS have their honor. Vampires have their lust for blood. But pirates? Pirates are the wayward black sheep of the hero family. They don’t answer to anyone. Pirates are fiercely independent. They don’t follow rules or laws, except their own. There’s one way to do things: the pirate way. And if his woman doesn’t like it, the captain might just confine her to those luxurious quarters again. And have his way with her. Shudder. There’s no chance of sleep with a pirate book boyfriend.

5) Treasure
The worst thing about pirates is how they’re relentlessly searching for something—revenge, gold doubloons, sparkling jewels… Pirates are always on the hunt for booty. They have maps where X marks the spot and chests full of enough riches that a girl could drape herself in rubies and pearls. A pirate is a dangerous book boyfriend.

If you’re still not convinced that you should stay away from pirates as book boyfriends, might I suggest a pirate hero who’s likely to show you just how good—I mean, bad—can be? Nick Martingale is the captain of the Robin Hood. Not only is he a pirate captain, he’s the younger brother of a marquess, which makes him Lord Nicholas. Titled and a pirate? Lethal combination. He’s also incredibly sexy, rich, and might just be hiding a sweet nature under that charming, roguish exterior. Feeling a little daring? Want to give Nick a try as your book boyfriend? One person who tells me their favorite pirate in  literature or film will win a print copy of The Pirate Takes a Bride (U.S. and Canada only).

The Pirate Takes a Bride
Ashley Brittany is living a nightmare. She's been mistakenly married to the one man she despises. Months ago, Lord Nicholas took her virtue then scorned her. Now, Ashley will do anything to have her revenge . . . anything but expose her ugly secret.
Nick Martingale has a secret, too: he's Captain Robin Hood, a pirate with a fearsome reputation. But when Nick learns his archenemy, the Barbary pirate Yussef, attacked innocents Nick has sworn to protect, he can think of nothing but vengeance.
Only one person stands in his way.
His wife.

Fun and Flirty!

What can I say about Tawna Fenske that has not already been said? Her writing style will simply make you fall in love with it all while making readers laugh their rumps off. Frisky Business is no different this book is a guilty pleasure that will have readers griping their sides from laughter. Frisky Business delivers a well blended mixture of sassy banter and quirky humor. I loved this book for its witty sexual innuendos and funny dialogue. Will and Marley sizzle up the pages with well plotted tension. It’s easy to get hooked onto Will and Marley, along with a few of their friends and family….oh and the pets one cannot forget how important the animals are in this book. Valerie Bowman's Great Start to a New Series!

Valerie Bowman’s The Unexpected Duchess is a delightful romp that I simply could not put down! Ms. Bowman’s stories tend to be fun and uplifting and, The Unexpected Duchess is no exception to this. It is the first book in Bowman’s Playful Bride series and which is proving to be entertaining right from the first book. Readers are introduced to Lucy, Cassandra, and Jane, a group of close friends and wallflowers. Their plan is to protect Cassandra from marrying the Duke of Claringdon. It sounds simple enough to these strong willed young ladies if only he wasn’t known as the Duke of Decisiveness. Derek Hunt has made a promise to his friend and fellow soldier and means to keep the promise. There is just one problem standing in his way, the stubborn Lady Lucy Upton. I loved everything about this book! I loved that both Lucy and Derek want what is best for their respective friends. I highly enjoyed the battles that ensue as each attempt to prove their points, and I adored how it quickly becomes clear that the warring pair realize that they are more compatible with each other. Yet, Derek is determined to honor his promise no matter what it costs. This book takes a slightly humorous turn as the passions and fires begin to build between Derek and Lucy. I found The Unexpected Duchess to be witty and delightful. It was quite the page turner and had me wanting to come back for more. If you’re a reader that loves a fun romantic troupe then this is the book for you!

Laura Kaye's East Of Ecstasy Blog Tour!

We are so excited it's release day for Laura Kaye's EAST OF ECSTASY! EAST OF ECSTASY is the final book in her Hearts of the Anemoi Series. See below for a note from Laura and an excerpt!!
East of Ecstasy Excerpt: By Laura Kaye You guys! I can’t believe release day for East of Ecstasy is finally here! This is the final book in my Hearts of the Anemoi series, which includes: North of Need, West of Want, and South of Surrender. The Anemoi were wind gods the Greek associated with controlling the wind, weather, and seasons. In East of Ecstasy, hero Devlin Eston is the heir to the East Wind which has long been associated with unluckiness, misfortune, and, thanks to Devlin’s father, even evil. Devlin himself has been the victim of father’s evil, and thereby finds himself an outcast among his own divine family. In this scene, heroine Annalise Fallston—who gets visions that she’s forced to paint in order to quiet them in her mind—sees Devlin for the first time. Here’s what she says: Forcing the chaos in her mind away, Anna dipped her brush into the gray and stepped to the canvas. Motion captured her attention from the corner of her eye. The Dark Man, the subject of her recent paintings, stood in the doorway and leaned against the jamb. Anna jumped and her pulse raced, but this time, anger flooded in instead of fear. “I will deal with you on my own damn terms,” she said, taking a perverse amount of pleasure from putting a figment of her imagination in its place. Because that’s all he was. He didn’t move or speak. Not that he could, since, you know. Figment.Of.Imagination. Anna rolled her eyes, done with being scared and so pissed to have to do this again that she was nearly out of her mind. “I’m doing your damn painting already. So just leave me alone.” She cut her gaze back to the expanse of white, but the desire to see if his image would still be there if she looked again drove her to distraction. Finally, she gave in and…he was still there. Completely still.Blatantly scowling.Totally unfathomable. Was this a vision? Another image she’d have to paint? Her heart tripped into a sprint, and she couldn’t look away from him. Like the compulsion that forced her to paint these images, Anna couldn’t help but return his stare and memorize his masculine features. The sharp angles of his face, the harsh set of his mouth, the dark shadows around his even darker eyes.Black eyes. Blades of black hair hung low over his forehead and just touched the hooded shirt he wore under his short, scuffed leather jacket. He’d crossed his arms over his chest, and the position caused his biceps to bunch up under the worn leather. In fact, everything about him appeared worn—the coat, the threadbare jeans, the scuffed boots. None of it struck her as the kind of shabby chic you could buy in some upscale store for a small fortune, either. The whole effect was rough. Dangerous.Deprived. Deprived? What a strange way of describing him. But as Anna’s gaze swept over him again, the thought stuck. For his height, he seemed thin, with his lean hips, clad in old black jeans, a trim waist, and pronounced cheekbones. Her fingers twitched around the nearly forgotten paintbrush. What would it feel like to cup that harsh face in her hand? Anna gasped and tore her gaze away. She had to blink to pull herself out of the haze of thoughts. Frustration surged through her and tensed the muscles of her shoulders and neck. She didn’t want to be working on another of these paintings as it was, so the last thing she needed was to lose a bunch of time daydreaming. Or would it be daynightmaring? As she stared at the blank canvas, the image of the shackled man behind the prison bars filled her mind’s eye. Definitely the latter. Curiosity pulled her eyes to the left again. The doorway was empty.   So, did you have a favorite line from the excerpt? Thanks for reading! Laura

Delightful and Charming Contemporary Debut

Let me start by stating that I’ve been a fan of Kieran Kramer’s since her debut historical romance When Harry Met Molly. Naturally when I discovered that Ms. Kramer was making the leap into the contemporary romance genre, I was completely on board. Sweet Talk Me is written in true Kieran Kramer style. It is a delightfully funny and sweet romance.
Sweet Talk Me is a small-town romance set in the south. Country music super star, Harrison Gamble and the down on her luck southern belle, True Maybank shared a secret night of passion while they were still in high school. So Harrison is the last person True expects to run into while she’s picking up her wedding gown. Harrison is in town to help out his older autistic brother; True is determined to settle down and marry, but what happens when her child hood sweet heart comes back to town?
Kramer’s writing talents excel is this sweet and charming small – town romance.  She adds more than a small amount of realism to her writings and even the secondary characters steal your heart. The overall feel of the book is colorful and lush with layers upon layers of emotions. Sweet Talk Me is written in a way that the readers can feel why Harrison and True fell apart and what it will take to reunite this loving pair.
I loved Sweet Talk Me for all of its realism and emotion. If you are looking for a romance with a lot of steam factor then this is not the book for you; however if you love a charming romance that will touch your heart and soul then be sure to read Sweet Talk Me.

Vicky Dreiling's What a Reckless Rogue Needs Blog Tour!

Why I Love Historical Romance

By Vicky Dreiling

My love of historical romance came about purely by accident. Back in the early nineties, I apparently was the only person on the planet who didn’t know about historical romances. With two young kids and a part-time job, my reading consisted of parents’ magazines and the nutrition labels on cereal boxes. But one day in the supermarket, I picked up a paperback with a pretty cover. I never read the description on the back because my daughter who was a preschooler at the time escaped down the aisle. I pitched the book in the basket and raced after her. When I got to the check-out counter, I almost put the book back, but my daughter distracted me again by trying to climb out of the basket.
When I got home, I put my daughter down for her nap and started the book. I was stunned that it was a romance. To be honest, I didn’t know what to think. I opened up the book. Two hours later, my daughter awoke, and I was in shock. I hadn’t been able to put the book down. The heroine was gutsy and sweet, and the hero was swoon-worthy. I couldn’t wait until bedtime to read again!  The book that forever hooked me on historical romance was Judith McNaught’s ALMOST HEAVEN.
Over the years, I’ve pondered what it is about historical romance that draws me in time after time. I finally realized it’s because no matter how much of a rake the hero is he always has a core sense of honor. Also, I love when the heroine refuses to let the alpha male rule over her and eventually she sees his vulnerability. And don’t we all love when the hero is finally brought to bended knee?
How about you? What book was your gateway to historical romance? Be sure to leave your e-mail below for your chance to win one of two copies of What a Reckless Rogue Needs! I will pick two random winners on March 24th, the last day of the blog tour.
